Control of Rusts of Cereal Crops

Foliar diseases of wheat and barley, especially rusts

 

 

 

Epidemiology and control of rusts, including cultural, chemical, and disease resistance. Development of models for predicting rust epidemics. Races, population structures, genome and functional genomics of the stripe rust pathogen. Molecular mapping and cloning genes for resistance to stripe rust. 1999: USDA-ARS Spot Award, for outstanding advancements in the identification and development of molecular markers for use in transferring durable stripe rust resistance genes in wheat and barley.

2003: USDA-ARS Spot Award. For developing an externally-funded international program of scientific cooperation to address the worldwide Stripe Rust program.
