Interpretive Summary:

Technical Abstract: This search tool has been updated to display data from the Pyramid Servings Database for USDA Survey Food Codes Version 2.0. Pyramid Servings Search Version 2.0 is a simple, intuitive and an effective instrument for viewing information on the number of Pyramid Servings assigned to foods used to process the National Health and Examination Survey (NHANES) 2001-2002, NHANES 1999-2000, and Continuing Survey of Food Intakes by Individuals 1994-96, 1998. The size and complexity of the Pyramid Servings Database requires programs or special software to review the data files and select information specific to research requirements. This search tool allows researchers to review the Pyramid servings data for either survey period by selecting search criteria from 30 Pyramid food groups, thousands of food codes, and/or words from food descriptions. Search results can be viewed, modified by additional search criteria, and/or saved into files for use in analysis. Pyramid Servings Search Version 2.0 will be used by government, academic, professional, clinical, and industry groups to facilitate research on food intakes in terms of Pyramid Servings. Results from such research will be used to plan and evaluate food assistance, health intervention, and nutrition education programs and policies. Results can also be used to evaluate and monitor diet quality and trends according to the guidelines and recommendations provided in USDA's 1992 Food Guide Pyramid.
