Objective:
Objectives include: 1) Screen susceptible wheat and barley mutant populations in field as well as greenhouse to identify moderate to resistant mutant lines; 2) Employing DH and speed breeding approaches to develop Fusarium Head Blight (FHB) resistant wheat cultivars and 3) Large scale testing and release of FHB resistant wheat cultivars.
Approach:
Perform field as well as greenhouse screening of wheat and barley mutants. Initiate new crosses in wheat to introduce and combined FHB resistant QTL. Reduce the generation-time using speed breeding and DHs. Large scale yield and disease testing of the improved cultivars for their release.
