Interpretive Summary:

Technical Abstract: Zoological parks expose native and exotic wildlife to a wide range of ectoparasites and biting flies. Our study focused on two zoological parks in South Carolina and we report on ticks, lice, flies, fleas, and other ectoparasites from both native and exotic wildlife in these parks. We also report on several zoonotic or potentially zoonotic pathogens isolated from flies and ectoparasites in the parks.
