Interpretive Summary:

Technical Abstract: S. aureus phage endolysins degrade staphylococcal peptidoglycan when released from within an infected cell. Some have been shown to also be effective when purified and exposed to the bacteria externally (lysis 'from without'). These have been proposed for use in antimicrobial applications, especially against MRSA strains.
