Interpretive Summary: Leaf beetles are among the most agriculturally important insects to the US. Many are serious pests feeding on crops and destroying valuable plants; others are important biological control agents that can be used to control noxious weeds. This paper reports results of 200 years of leaf beetle studies in eastern Europe and northern Asia. It contains a list, distributions, and associated literature of all 1800 species of leaf beetles known from these areas. It will be useful to biological control workers, taxonomists, ecologists, faunists, and anyone interested in beetles and their distribution.

Technical Abstract: The checklist of all known leaf beetle taxa of eastern Europe and northern Asia is provided. It contains 16 subfamilies, 170 genera and 1805 species and subspecies (Coleoptera, Chrysomelidae). The history of leaf beetle studies from this territory is briefly outlined. Zoogeographic features of this fauna, particularly endemism, are also discussed.
