Consideration of n accumulation in previous non-legume crops for subsequent n recommendations. Agronomy Abstracts. 90:307. Interpretive Summary: Technical Abstract: Traditionally, N credits have been given when crops are seeded following legumes. However, tracking fields during site-specific farming studies over rotations have suggested that N accumulated by non-legume crops may also contribute N to subsequent crops. Research in a sunflower/wheat rotation suggests sunflower may release N to the following wheat crop. In a sugarbeet/wheat/potato rotation, sugarbeet may release up to 200 kg ha-1 N to the wheat crop and potato may also contribute previously unconsidered N to the following crop from vines and culls. |
