Objective:
The overall project goal is to develop genetic tools for increasing FHB resistance in barley and wheat. The overall objectives are to use genomics approaches and barley and wheat mutants to identify mutants that confer type I resistance and provide the materials to breeders.
Approach:
In barley, will identify and characterize novel type I resistance mutants and provide beneficial
mutants to breeding programs. In wheat, we will also use transcriptomics to identify potential type I resistance genes and identify and characterize mutants for those genes. Resistant mutants will be provided to wheat breeders.
