Objective:
The overall goal of this project is to provide mycotoxin testing services to researchers working on various aspects of Fusarium Head Blight (FHB) in wheat, durum wheat, and barley. Specific objectives are to provide: 1) Accurate results, and 2) Timely and equitable analysis of samples for all cooperators.
Approach:
Wheat and barley from 16 cooperators are tested for DON, 3- and 15-A DON and nivalenol using gas chromatography with electron capture or mass spectroscopy detection. The laboratory can test for other Fusarium toxins using liquid chromatography with triple quadrupole MS detection. Approximately 27,300 are expected in 2022-23.
