Objective:
The objectives of this project are to evaluate the effects of integrating fungicide treatment and genetic resistance on Fusarium head blight (FHB) and deoxynivalenol (DON) in winter wheat, evaluate the efficacy of new fungicides on FHB and DON, and generate data to enhance the development of FHB risk prediction models.
Approach:
At early flowering, fungicide treatments including a non-inoculated and an inoculated check will be applied to four winter wheat cultivars differing in genetic resistance to FHB and DON. FHB index will be assessed 21 days after fungicide application and DON will be measured in grain following harvest.
