Advanced Biofuels Development Summit. Paper No. 10. Interpretive Summary: Technical Abstract: Native lignocellulosic biomass is very resistant to degradation by enzymes. Prior pretreatment is essential for efficient conversion of lignocellulosic feedstock to ethanol. In this presentation, various pretreatment options such as dilute acid, alkali, alkaline peroxide, wet oxidation, steam explosion, and liquid hot water along with their merits and demerits will be highlighted. |
