Technical Abstract: The book chapter on Russian wheat aphid, (Diuraphis noxia (Mord.)), is one of several that addresses significant pests in the book entitled, Wheat Science and Trade. The chapter gives a detailed account of the history of the Russian wheat aphid as global pest, and its biology, ecology and management approaches. The Russian wheat aphid is one of the most significant pests affecting wheat production in the United States and South Africa. This aphid has also overcome the resistance that has successfully managed this pest in the past ten years in these two countries by developing more virulent biotypes.
