A model of the production of ethanol by the dry grind process. 2004. Proceedings of the Corn Utilization & Technology Conference, Indianapolis, IN., June 7-9. Poster 58.. Interpretive Summary: Technical Abstract: Process and cost models for the production of ethanol from corn by the dry grind process have been developed as research tools by the Agricultural Research Service, Eastern Regional Research Center. These simulations are based on current technology and cost data from technology suppliers, operating plants and other sources associated with the production of ethanol. Aspen Plus, a process simulation program, is used to model the technical aspects of the process and Microsoft Excel spreadsheets to quantify the economics of the process. The models may be used to evaluate the economics of changes in the production process, variations in feedstock and coproduct costs, differences in the composition of corn and the use of alternate feedstocks. |
