Eimeria-antigen specific serum antibodies were detected after hatch. At 14 days post hatch, in ovo-vaccinated chickens were challenged with live Eimeria oocysts, and their fecal oocyst count and body weights were compared to those of untreated control group. In ovo-vaccinated chickens showed significantly lower fecal oocyst counts and improved body weight gains compared to the untreated chickens. These studies show promising results on using in ovo vaccination strategy to elicit protective intestinal immune response against coccidiosis. |
