Citation: VEGA, F.E., ROSENQUIST, E., COLLINS, W.W. THE GLOBAL COFFEE CRISIS AND ITS EFFECT ON COFFEE RESEARCH.. SCIENCE MAGAZINE. 2003. Interpretive Summary:
Technical Abstract: Technical abstract. Coffee is the most valuable agricultural commodity in the world and is in a crisis mode due to low prices, which are not sufficient to cover production costs in many producing countries. A largely ignored consequence of the coffee crisis is the reduced funding for coffee research. An internationally coordinated coffee research effort is proposed.
