Interpretive Summary:

Technical Abstract: Species of the rust genus Ravenelia are found on legumes, especially in tropical and subtropical regions of the Americas, Africa and Asia. An interactive identification system (http://nt.ars-grin.gov/taxadescriptions/keys/RaveneliaIndex.cfm) was developed to provide users with a tool for identifying species of Ravenelia. It includes an interactive key, images, descriptions, distribution data, and additional information on nearly 50 species of Ravenelia. This web page is based on studies of the first author of the 20 species of Ravenelia that occur in Argentina. In addition, it includes work by Joe Hennen and George Cummins on species of Ravenelia in the U.S. The characters in the interactive key are those that are of most value in delimiting the taxa. Additional taxa of Ravenelia from other geographic regions will be added until all species of Ravenelia are included.
