Technical Abstract: Biologists worldwide use web-based electronic resources to support their knowledge discovery tasks on the daily basis. However, literature searching and sequence mining tasks could be time consuming and tedious in a lot of cases for most researchers. Therefore, advanced techniques and user-friendly tools assisting those researchers and practitioners to improve the efficiency of such tasks are in great need. Furthermore, researchers working on same or related fields may wish to pursue collaborations and instantly exchange new ideas and findings with their research and development partners who are mutually connected through a virtual electronic platform. Unfortunately, there are little practical models and tools that support such efficient knowledge workflow among collaborators in the fields of biology research. In this work, we explain the reasons for developing advanced knowledge discovery and workflow in biology informatics, identify key features for such a framework, and discuss the potential benefits for focused knowledge exchange systems as exemplified in chicken disease and oncology study.
