The F-2 offspring were inoculated with 10-4 sporulated oocysts of E. maxima at 4 weeks old. Body weight gain, fecal oocyst shedding, plasma NO2-+NO3-, carotenoid, and interferon-gamma concentrations were measured at three different time periods post-infection. An infection index was also calculated from the correlated parameters for QTL mapping. Seventy-thre chicken microsatellite markers with an average marker interval of 50 cM were used for genotyping of the F1 and F2 chickens. The result of statistical analysis showed that there were several marker loci associated with the disease associated-parameters. |
