The Mn of PDMS samples were 106 and 31.3 kg/mol and that of PS was 100 kg/mol. The temperature was varied from 150-180 deg C. Measured interfacial tensions for all PS/PDMS blends decreased with increasing temperature below 180 deg C and was also independent of the molecular weight of the PDMS component. The interfacial tensions of PS/PDMS 106 and PS/PDMS 31 below 180 deg C obtained in this work are in agreement with the general trend of reported interfacial tensions of OS/ODMS as well as PS/PDMS blends obtained from sessile drop and pendant drop experiments. This indicates that the IFR procedure will give comparable results to conventional equilibrium methods on blends with low viscosity components. |
