Location: National Programs

Project Number: 0500-00053-005-041-G
Project Type: Grant

Start Date: Jun 1, 2020
End Date: May 31, 2023

Objective:
The objectives of this research are: 1) test new fungicides available to wheat and barley growers and develop best management protocols, 2) evaluate current fungicides for efficacy on FHB in wheat and barley, 3) educate growers and on best management practices for producing high quality wheat and barley in Idaho and 4) establish FHB screeing nurseries for both barley and spring wheat in Idaho.

Approach:
The researcher will conduct fungicide trials and identify FHB resistance cultivars in Idaho in order to determine the best management strategies for wheat and barley growers in this region. Growers will be educated on the best methods at field days, workshops, meetings, newsletters and other media outlets.
