Objective:
The objectives of this research are: 1) implement a screening nursery to identify sources of resistance that can be introduced into the Kansas winter wheat breeding program, 2) screening of breeding lines for the hard winter wheat regional breeders and 3) conduct winter wheat with fungicide trials.
Approach:
The researcher will conduct screening nurseries to identify sources and cultivars with improved FHB resistance in hard winter wheat for breeders in the growing region. Fungicide trials will be conducted on elite material to determine the response on DON accumulation.
