Research Project: Improving SRWW Resistance to FHB using Traditional and Molecular Breeding

Location: National Programs

Project Number: 0500-00053-005-14-G
Project Type: Grant

Start Date: Jun 6, 2020
End Date: Jun 5, 2021

Objective:
The objectives of this research are: 1) use traditional and molecular breeding methods to improve FHB resistance in Ohio winter wheat cultivars, 2) field screen adapted spring wheat for FHB resistance, 3) use genomic selection to improve FHB resistance in hard winter wheat and 5) implement genomic selection for the northern soft winter wheat breeders.

Approach:
The researcher will conduct traditional and molecular breeding methods to improve FHB resistance in soft winter wheat for the state of Ohio.
