Objective:
The goal of this planning grant is to develop a strategic plan for future research on the development of a potato breeding system based on diploid inbred lines.

Approach:
We will convene a meeting of potato industry stakeholders and researchers in Madison, Wisconsin. After a series of presentations from leaders in breeding and genetics, participants will identify specific ways in which the public sector can contribute to the development and implementation of diploid inbred-hybrid breeding for cultivar development.
