Research Project: Porter Canyon Experimental Watershed: Quantifying the Effects of Piñon and Juniper Control on Ecosystem Processes

Location: Great Basin Rangelands Research

Project Number: 2060-22000-024-02-A
Project Type: Cooperative Agreement

Start Date: Mar 1, 2014
End Date: Jan 30, 2019

The primary purpose is to facilitate joint research between the University of Nevada Reno and the USDA, Agricultural Research Service (ARS), in the Porter Canyon Experimental Watershed, where the effects of pinyon and juniper control on watershed processes is being quantified. The objective is to synthesize several multi-years datasets from the watershed to quantify baseline watershed conditions. This will provide baseline conditions on 1) tree water use, 2) soil moisture, and 3) climatic conditions.

The University of Nevada at Reno will assist ARS in collecting, synthesizing, and analyzing these data.
