Interpretive Summary:

Technical Abstract: Interfacial tension plays an important role in the manufacture of thermoplastic matrix composites and in the development and stabilization of blend morphologies. The purpose of this work was to evaluate the interfacial tension between polyphosphate glass (Pglass) and a polymer matrix (polystyrene), using the imbedded fibre retraction (IFR) technique. A value of 2.33 dyn/cm was measured at 200 deg C, which is the processing temperature for these materials.
