Research Project: Exploration of N Vietnam for Discovery of its Lycorma delicatula and It's Natural Enemies and Potential Biological Control of this Pest in the U.S.

Location: European Biological Control Laboratory

Project Number: 0212-22000-030-016-I
Project Type: Interagency Reimbursable Agreement

Start Date: Jan 1, 2025
End Date: Dec 31, 2029

Objective:
To collect egg masses and immature stages of SLF and keep the material partly in Vietnam under lab and natural conditions and in France under quarantine conditions for the emergence of any natural enemies of SLF.

Approach:
To survey populations of native Vietnamese SLF (both eggs and nymphs) to build our understanding and knowledge of natural enemies of SLF to include northern Vietnam, which expands beyond the two known parasitoids known from native populations of SLF in China. Any reared parasitoids will be considered as potential candidate biological control agents of SLF to test as candidate biocontrol agents for invasive SLF in the US.
