Stormflow Response as a Function of Alluvial Storage in a Small Atlantic Coastal Plain Watershed. ASABE Annual International Meeting, June 21-24, 2008, Reno, Nevada. Interpretive Summary: Technical Abstract: Total available groundwater storage in alluvial floodplains has been shown to have a significant impact upon stormflow within larger (16.7 to 50 km2) watersheds within the Atlantic Coastal Plain. Groundwater and streamflow data from a small (0.5 km2) watershed were examined to evaluate the temporal and spatial differences in stormflow response as a function of alluvial storage for these scale watersheds. Relationships between available alluvial storage and climatic season and antecedent rainfall were examined. The impact of alluvial storage on peak discharge, magnitude and timing, were also examined. These data will help to improve our understanding of streamflow response to climatic changes in the region. |
