DOI: https://doi.org/10.15482/USDA.ADC/1523365 Interpretive Summary: Phosphorus is an essential nutrient for crop growth and is routinely applied to agricultural lands; however, small amounts of phosphorus entering surface waters can cause eutrophication and harmful algal blooms. This dataset includes phosphorus (P) inputs, outputs and budgets that were collected from 24 research locations and 61 production systems across the U.S. and Canada. Phosphorus fluxes and budgets vary across agricultural production systems and are useful resources to improve P use efficiency and develop management strategies to mitigate environmental impacts of agricultural systems.
