Technical Abstract: A model is proposed to explain soil carbon (C) emission after tillage as a function of the non-disturbed emission. The model is based on a first order soil C decay assumption and assumes that tillage introduces an additional labile C to the mineralization process due to aggregate disruption. Predicted and observed values show good agreement and coefficients extracted from the model are coherent with expectation. The advantage of this method is that temporal variability of tillage-induced emissions can be described by one analytical function that only considers the undisturbed emission plus an exponential term in time modulated by tillage and environmental parameters.
