Interpretive Summary:

Technical Abstract: Ten experimental lines of hard spring wheat from the 2005 crop were submitted to the Wheat Quality Council for experimental milling and baking evaluations. The experimental lines were grown at up to four locations in 2005 and evaluated for kernel, milling, and bread baking quality against the check varieties Parshall and Glenn. Samples of wheat were milled at the USDA Hard Red Spring and Durum Wheat Quality Laboratory (WQL), Fargo, ND. Flour was shipped to 9 independent laboratories where bread baking quality tests were performed. Bread baking data were analyzed by the WQL and presented to the Wheat Quality Council for discussion on the merits of each experimental line. The impact of the evaluations is to provide high quality wheat for commercial production and processing through breeders' varietal release programs.
