Interpretive Summary:

Technical Abstract: The Hard Spring Wheat Technical Committee of the Wheat Quality Council was designed to provide quality data relating the milling and baking properties of experimental lines of spring wheat that were grown and tested during the 1998 crop year. Eight experimental lines of spring wheat were grown at up to four locations. The check variety Grandin was replicated at each of the four locations for comparison with the experimental lines. The USDA/ARS Wheat Quality Laboratory tested the kernel, milling, dough, and bread baking characteristics of the harvested grain. Eleven independent cooperators tested the flour for bread baking quality. The data was then compiled and later presented and discussed at an open forum at the annual Wheat Quality Council meeting, Kansas City, MO in February 16-17, 1999.
