The Metropolitan Washington Council of Governments (COG) has partnered with the Beltsville Agricultural Research Center (BARC) to organize reforestation events in the Anacostia watershed.
Citizen volunteers include Anacostia subwatershed groups and residents from the surrounding residential communities. The ongoing program has planted and mulched native trees and shrubs along the Little Paint Branch stream bank and Beaverdam Creek.
In the past volunteers from the Friends of Little Paint Branch, Neighbors of Northwest Branch, Beaverdam Creek Watershed Watchgroup, Citizens to Conserve and Restore Indian Creek, residents from the City of Greenbelt and the Beltsville neighborhood community participated in the events
