Little Topashaw Creek - Wood Density |
Means and standard deviations of wood density for LWD and living trees were 0.82+0.21 and 0.96+0.16, respectively. Wood moisture and decay were the most important factors influencing wood density. Dried samples averaged about 73% lighter and soaked samples about 137% heavier than in-situ conditions. No significant correlation between other variables (sampling technique, log diameter, position on tree) and the density of wood was observed. |
