Interpretive Summary:

Technical Abstract: The Foundation of Food and Agriculture Research (FFAR) is a non-profit organization, which builds unique public-private partnerships to support scientific research and innovative technology that addresses food and agriculture-related challenges. This article summarizes the FFAR's roles and responsibilities in terms of leveraging public and private resources to increase the amount of agricultural research as well as mapping out its operational procedures. In addition, the paper describes a food and agriculture event entitled “Foster Our Future 2020”, which was organized by the FFAR to illustrate how research and science are changing today's dietary and agricultural landscape and to highlight the importance of public-private partnerships to the agricultural research community. The information included herein may be of use for researchers, students, beekeepers, and policymakers who are interested in the FFAR's role and its targets with regards to the U.S.' agricultural research and innovation.
