Technical Abstract: Nutrient availability from animal manures is largely dependent on mineralization of organic compounds. This presentation describes some of the traditional approaches used to estimate nutrient availability, as well as some new approaches aimed at understanding soil biological activity and its control over mineralization and immobilization of nutrients.
