Interpretive Summary:

Technical Abstract: Air assisted application technologies for apple and citrus orchards are normally adapted to nursery tree crops. However, compared with orchard crops, nursery trees are usually narrow and sharp and are difficult to apply pesticide with conventional delivery systems. Little information is available on current nursery spray application practices whereby applications require amounts of pesticides achieve effective pest and disease control with minimum chemical loss. In this article, three topics are discussed for optimal operation of air blast sprayers in nurseries. These topics are the best spray technique with air blast sprayers, the amount of spray volume deposited in canopies and on the ground, and suggestions for growers to get the best performance for their air blast sprayers.
