This program works to develop practical and economically viable tactics for managing insect pests of horticultural crops, with an emphasis on ornamental nursery crops.  To that end, research involves characterizing fundamental biology, ecology, behavior, and insect-plant interactions to identify and exploit biological weaknesses of horticultural insect pests, especially exotic ambrosia beetles and flea beetles.
