Many of these viruses infect other crops across wide geographic and climate ranges causing severe economic losses. This chapter collects the current facts on these diseases with an emphasis on management for tomato growers, extension agents, crop consultants, and other members of the vegetable production and plant pathology communities fulfilling an important part of the ARS mission. Technical Abstract: Tomato is an important crop worldwide and is subject to diseases caused by a wide variety of viral pathogens. Often, these pathogens also infect pepper and other solanaceous crops necessitating tomato disease management as one component of an overall vegetable disease management plan. |
