Interpretive Summary: Five semidwarf mutants were induced in tall US long grain varieties. Each mutant line carries a gene different from the worldwide semidwarfing source sd1. These mutants provide breeding sources of semidwarfism in tropical japonica germplasm adapted to the southern US and similar climatic areas.
