Most of the vaccines that are efficacious in protecting livestock against brucellosis are composed of live, attenuated bacteria. In this review, the derivation of each vaccine strain is discussed, and the benefits and disadvantages for use of each vaccine strain in livestock is compared. New vaccines being developed using molecular biology techniques are discussed in context of their potential field use. |
