Objective:
The main objective is to build a menu-driven graphical user interface (GUI) for the Landuse and Agricultural Management Practices web-Service (LAMPS). The GUI will promote more seemless integration of modeling tools requiring crop rotation and management information.
Approach:
In tandem with developing a new GUI, the Cooperator will refine the "back-end" services of LAMPS including:
1. Update the cloud service code from Java 8 to Java 17
2. Link LAMPS to newer versions of the Conservation Resources Land Management Operations Database (CRLMOD version 5)
3. Add NASS county crop yield information
The Cooperator will work with ARS to design a GUI for LAMPS using the Environmental Resource Assessment and Management System (eRAMS) GIS Interface and web platform, then build a custom LAMPS GUI for the ARS Ages model, which may also serve other models. The Cooperator will also communicate with other entities to support their development of customized model/platform GUIs using LAMPS. ARS will collaborate with the Cooperator to promote wider adoption of LAMPS and publication of results demonstrating its scalability.
