Research Project: Cooperative Research Program on Fish Nutrition and Diet Development

Location: Small Grains and Potato Germplasm Research

Project Number: 2050-21310-006-016-N
Project Type: Non-Funded Cooperative Agreement

Start Date: Sep 1, 2021
End Date: Aug 31, 2026

Objective:
The goal of the cooperative research program is to strengthen and advance collaborations and fully utilize the expertise and capabilities of both institutions to increase knowledge of the nutritional needs of fish species. The close proximity of the collaborator provides the opportunity to enhance the ARS Trout Grains Project by increasing involvement and training opportunities of university faculty and students in fish nutrition research.

Approach:
The cooperative research program will be established through existing shared resources, educational/training opportunities and leveraged funded sources. Coordination of activities will be facilitated by routine meetings of the faculty at both Montana State University and Bozeman Fish Technology Center to discuss projects. Implementation will include development of an annual student internship research project.
