Research Project: Metabolomics of Seeds (Corn Grain) and Tomato

Location: Genetic Improvement for Fruits & Vegetables Laboratory

Project Number: 8042-21000-305-002-S
Project Type: Non-Assistance Cooperative Agreement

Start Date: Sep 21, 2020
End Date: Sep 20, 2025

Objective:
The objective of this project is to develop comprehensive datasets on the levels of primary and secondary metabolites in maize grain and tomato fruits and quantify minor metabolites.

Approach:
Untargeted Nuclear Magnetic Resonance (NMR) based and targeted (UHPLC-Orbitrap MS, UHPLC/DAD/(+/-)HESI-MS/MS metabolomics approach including unbiased data processing will be applied to generate a comprehensive view of the relative levels of primary and secondary metabolites in grain crops and tomato fruits.
