Dr. Rich studies microbial contamination in fuel ethanol fermentation. We identify "bad" bacteria causing stuck fermentation and "good" ones that restore ethanol production. The beneficial strains may serve as an alternative approach to control contamination in fuel ethanol production.
Dr. Liu checks end products of microbial fermentation using biomass hydrolysates of corn fiber and wheat straw
Dr. Skory studies gene expression and modifications of enzymes that are used to convert agricultual biomass to fermentable sugars
Dr. Michael A Jackson's research is focused on the use and development of catalysts in the conversion of biomaterials to useful chemicals. We pursue hot water extractions of lignocellulosic materials and chemical conversions which include hydrogenations, ketonizations, and oxidations.
Dr. Kervin Evans is a research physical scientist studies natural plant compounds with excellent antioxidant properties useful in skin care industries.
