Little Topashaw Creek - Seasonal Variations of Pesticides - Methods

  • Storm event (high flow) water samples were collected hourly up to 24 hours using ISCO automated samplers.
  • Samples were collected from November 2000 through November 2001 and included 17 storm events.
  • Pesticide analysis was conducted with a Hewlett-Packard(HP) model 6890 gas chromatograph with a HP1MS capillary column to determine concentrations of:
  1. 12 current-use pesticides
  2. Two(2) historic-use pesticides
         pp' DDT
         Dieldrin
  3. Three (3) metabolites
         Fipronil sulfone
         pp' DDD
         pp' DDE
