|Centipedegrass for Turf|
TifBlair centipedegrass was developed from seeds of Common centipedegrass that had been irradiated with 10,000 rads of Cobalt 60 gamma radiation for 4 cycles by the USDA-ARS Forage and Turf Research Unit at Tifton, GA and planted at Blairesville, GA. Seeds were harvested from plants that survived the 1980 to 1984 winters to produce TifBlair. TifBlair can be established from seeds or sod. It is protected by Plant Variety Protection, therefore it cannot be produced, propagated or sold without permission. The Turfgrass Group, Inc has the rights to produce TifBlair. Seeds of TifBlair should be commercially available in early 2000 and sod should be available in 2001.
