Interpretive Summary:

Technical Abstract: Nine Santa Gertrudis steers were evaluated for dominance hierarchy, chute order, order of approach to humans and order of approach to novel objects. The dominance hierarchy was observed and correlation coefficients were calculated with behavioral measures. Social dominance was correlated (P<.05) with chute entry order (r=.62) and toy approach (r=.52). Correlations between social dominance and human approach or body weight were not significant.
