Interpretive Summary:

Technical Abstract: Gas-permeable membrane technology that recovers ammonia nitrogen from livestock wastewater was tested at pilot scale in a swine farm. The technology recovered up to 38 grams of ammonia nitrogen per square meter of membrane per day. However, wastewater temperature greatly affected the rate of recovery. The technology not only contributes to reduce ammonia emissions but also recovers nutrients in the form of an ammonium salt, which could be used as fertilizer.
