Interpretive Summary:

Technical Abstract: In each Rangeland Ecology and Management, I am responsible for choosing, promoting, and describing a best in issue manuscript called the Editors Choice. In this selection, I point out the need for new restoration strategies and discuss the author’s concept of using short-term weather forecasting that is now available in many areas of the world to make decisions as to the probability of a season being wet enough to foster plant emergence in degraded and invaded rangeland.
