Interpretive Summary:

Technical Abstract: Mangifera casturi “Casturi” mango is a tropical fruit tree about 10–30 m tall which is endemic to very small area around Banjarmasin in Southern Borneo (Indonesia). The casturi mango is believed to be first introduced to Florida by Richard Campbell in early 2000 as part of the germplasm conservation effort. The study was conducted at the USDA/ARS Subtropical Horticultural Research Station, National Germplasm Repository in Miami, Florida, USA. The fruits were harvested on July 2, 2012. After harvest, color, several physicochemical and morphological characteristics (weight, length, width and thickness, total soluble solids, Brix, pH, and titratable acidity ) of fruit, stone and seed fresh and dry weight were performed on commercial maturity stage. The fruit has an attractive color (green to purple-black) during maturity, firm flesh, and relative freedom from anthracnose disease seven days after harvesting . The fruit is ovoid with a smooth, regular surface. Fruit weight ranged from 92 to 122 grams, with an average weight of about 105 grams. The average fruit length and width were 72 .0 and 50.0 mm respectively. The stone characteristics for weight, length, width and thickness were 20.78 g; 59.82 mm; 28.55 mm; and 16.77mm respectively. The fruits had high contents of total soluble solids (17.8 to 20.6 ºBrix), pH 4.5, and titratable acidity of 0.20 to 0.28%.
